I'm not sure where they think the big advantage is really. They have been trying to sell it to ANYONE for quite a few years now, and nobody has bought it. Seems to be a solution looking for a problem.

They also think it's a great way to make civilian/light arms--but would you buy one? Do you think it would possibly be cheaper and more-accurate than what is in use now?

......Its main advantage is its ease of fully-automatic fire, and the US is the biggest first-world gun market there is,,,,, and new full-auto guns in the US aren't allowed at all. Sounds like a pretty unsaleable product to me, at least on that end.

But no police or military seem to want it either, for light arms, or anything else. The very-high burst rate is of no practical value, and the reloading time would be drastically slower than conventional magazine- and belt-fed arms already in place.

This is what the USN is using right now:

20mm saboted tungsten penetrator shells, 4500 rounds per minute (that's 75 shots per second), 1000 shot burst capacity, 1550 round capacity. And a Phalanx still probably can be reloaded faster than those two guys could re-load the equivalent of 1500 shots in their "Metal Storm" gun.
