This is what the USN is using right now: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phalanx_CIWS 20mm saboted tungsten penetrator shells, 4500 rounds per minute (that's 75 shots per second), 1000 shot burst capacity, 1550 round capacity. And a Phalanx still probably can be reloaded faster than those two guys could re-load the equivalent of 1500 shots in their "Metal Storm" gun. -end- |
